National NC98 receiver and Hallicrafters HT9 Transmitter
In 1957, at age 16, I was first licensed as KN2YKB in my home town of Buffalo, New York. The "N" was removed from my call about 6 months later when I passed the General license exam. My current call was issued in the 70's when I moved to California and upgraded to an Advanced Class license. I use a Yaesu FT-2000 transceiver on the HF bands and a Yaesu FT-8900R on VHF & UHF. I also have a Flex 3000 SDR transceiver for the HF bands. My HF antenna is an OCF dipole about 30 feet above ground. I use the local repeaters on 2 meters and 70 cm with a Ringo Ranger antenna for both bands. My hobbies include electronics, computers and some photography.
